The Centre for Health Promotion Studies is committed to interdisciplinary research, graduate education, and community engagement in health promotion to advance knowledge, theory, practice, and policy in the social and behavioural determinants of health through community and academic partnerships. The Centre fosters interdisciplinary, collaborative health promotion research to help meet the health needs of Albertans and Canadians. The Centre's research activities advance knowledge about the social, psychological, economic, and cultural determinants of health status, health behaviour, and health services use.

Research programs currently being run by members at the Centre include:

  • Addiction and Mental Health Research Laboratory;
  • Alberta Heart Health Project;
  • Citizen Participation Project;
  • Health Alberta Communities;
  • Physical Activity and Population Health Research Laboratory; and,
  • Promotion of Optimal Weights through Ecological Research.
