The Health Promotion Research Group is a multidisciplinary group of researchers linked with practitioners and health care policy and decision makers whose mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of communities through interdisciplinary health promotion research carried out through collaboration among the University of Calgary and community groups.

The Group's research priorities are:

  • health outcomes and/or economic effectiveness of existing and proposed health promotion programs;
  • socioeconomic and environmental factors that affect the implementation and outcomes of health promotion programs;
  • social, economic and psychological factors that affect the adoption of health promotion behaviours;
  • evaluation, over the developmental cycle, of innovative health promotion programs;
  • interdependencies among various programs and policies designed to promote health; and,
  • communication strategies for dissemination and application of research results.
